Street Teams are all about promoting the bands and spreading the word:
Word of Mouth
The easiest way to inform people is simply to talk. Word of mouth is one of the biggest and most reliable forms of advertising today. So if your’re standing in line, bored at school/work, whatever, ask someone if they’ve heard of a band called HIM and if they haven’t, tell them a little about it. If you have an iPod or MP3 player with you, let them hear a track. Get them interested and they’ll go check it out.
Merchandise-
Wear the merchandise. HIM shirts, heartagrams, hoodies, jewelry, tattoos, etc... Wearing the band logo will get people’s attention and if they ask tell them what it is. And yes, you will get “Isn’t that Bam’s logo?” or “Is that a pentagram?” “Are you Satanic?” While we fans might think this is annoying, try to answer calmly and let them know what the heartagram really is and what it stands for.
Radio-
We need HIM being played on the radio! Call your local station and bug them. Email them. Go to their website and request HIM once an hour. Whatever it takes, just get them on the air.
Internet-
Next to word of mouth, the Internet is a massive advertising tool. Send people to HIM’s website and their Myspace page. Mention them in IM conversations, use HIM graphics for your buddy icons, post banners, reviewes, etc...
Myspace-
HIM has an official Myspace page. Help them raise their number of friends by posting bulletins with links to it. Drop in once a day and leave them some love in the comments. Add other HIM friends to your own Myspace page. Friend the HIM Missouri Team Myspace page to help promote as well.
Fliers and Posters-
HIM Mo. Street Team will do our best to provide you with fliers and other handouts to help promote the band. Take these to local record stores and ask if you can put them in the windows or leave them on the counters. Ask the same at your local Hot Topic or other clothing store. Go to concerts in your area and hand them out. Plaster them on the telephone poles (where it’s legal) in your neighborhood. Get the Heartagram out there!
